Broken

Her eyes were broken, dazed

Filled with a painful reality

Filled with fear

Confusion

Helplessness

Hopelessness

She was broken

Shattered

Almost dead

She was beaten

Raped

Humiliated

She’s 13

She’s 54

She’s 24

She’s 74

She’s 34

Pleads didn’t matter

No, wasn’t enough

Cries were never heard

Tears never stopped

She’s here

She’s present

She’s around us

She’s our friend

Our mother

Our daughter

Our sister

Our grandmother

I could be her

She could be me

She could be you

Violence against women doesn’t end here. It continues every day, every hour… inside our homes, our schools, our jobs, our safe spaces. It happens. What are you doing to stop it?
